In order to answer the questioned posed in the title of this article we MUST go to the Holy Scriptures and find out what the Passover is and how it relates to Christ.
In the process of bringing the children of Israel out of Egyptian bondage, Jehovah God sent 10 miraculous plagues upon the nation of Egypt. He did this to prove that He was the One True God (Ex. 7:5; 9:13-16).
Moses, accompanied by his brother, Aaron, went before the king of Egypt (Pharaoh) with this message from God: "Let my people go"...but Pharaoh refused to do so (Ex. 5:1,2). Consequently nine plagues followed. The last of these plagues was the death of the firstborn child (Ex. 11:4-7). Upon God's instruction, the children of Israel commemorated the Lord's sparing their firstborn with and a feast known as "the Passover"(Ex. 12:3-7)
God gave much instruction regarding this plague and their salvation from it (Ex. 12:2-7, 12-14, 21-27). In order to avoid the death upon their firstborn (Ex. 11:7) each family took a "Passover lamb", one without blemish, a male of the first year, and put some of its blood on the door post and on the lintel of their houses. (Ex. 12:7). By doing this the firstborn in Israel were spared (Ex. 12: 12, 13).
When the blackness of midnight felt the presence of God moving across the land of Egypt (Ex. 12:29), it was of no consequence whether one was a king on a throne or a peasant in the field; lived in a mansion on a hill or a valley with poverty; reclined on a bed of ivory or lay in a bed of clay; was wrapped in royal purple or clothes in rags. ALL that mattered was “Is the blood of the lamb on the doorpost of my house?” This question is SO pertinent to our lives today. When eternity calls an end to time, the SOLE matter of human concern will be: "Is the blood of the Lamb on the door post of my soul?"
God ordained the Passover feast as an annual commemoration of Israel’s deliverance from death and the bondage of Egypt. Jesus the Christ is our Passover (1 Cor. 5:7), God’s exclusive means of delivering us from the bondage of sin and spiritual death. He died on our behalf as the Passover lamb did long ago for the Israelite families.
So I ask you, is “the blood of The Lamb (Christ) on the door post of your soul?
Dear friend, what washes away man’s sins??
There is NO power in any action of man to wash away sins. Truly the Bible says that we MUST: Hear the gospel (Rom. 10:17), believe in Jesus or die in our sins (John 8:24; Heb. 11:6), repent of our sins or perish (Luke 13:3; Acts 17:30, 31), confess our faith in Christ or be denied by Him (Matt. 10:32,33; Rom. 10:10) and be baptized for remission of sins (Acts 2:38; Mark 16:16; 1 Pet. 3:21). But these acts (in and of themselves) are all void of power to release man from his sins.
If God had empowered any or all of these actions to function as the remedy for sin, the crucifixion of Christ was the most cruel, heartless, sadistic, needless event in all of human history. God has placed all the power to wash away sins in the blood of His Son. The Book say that Jesus “washed us from our sins in His own blood” (Rev. 1:5).
Here’s the next question of GREAT importance to be asked and answered:
WHEN does the blood of Christ wash away sins? The blood of Christ washes away sins when man completes his obedience to the gospel in the act of baptism.
Saul, a penitent believer was instructed: “ And now why are you waiting, arise, and be baptized, and WASH AWAY YOUR SINS, calling on the name of the Lord” ~ ACTS 22:16
So what makes forgiveness of sins possible? Only the innocent blood of Jesus the Christ possesses the power to remit sins. Jesus said, “For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for the remission of sins” (Matt. 26:28). WHEN does the blood of Christ effect remission of sins? The power in the blood of Christ to remit sins is enjoyed when man concludes his obedience to the gospel in the act of baptism. Believers in Christ were commanded to “repent, and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins” (Acts 2:38)
Baptism for the remission of sins is faith at work. It is faith submitting to God’s way. That is what faith does. Faith obeys God. Saving faith does not argue with God over the essentiality of divinely ordained conditions for reception of salvation. Obedient faith does not exalt feeling, personal experience, or some longstanding practice above what the Bible teaches. Submissive faith in God does not insist on its own way!
OBSERVE:
Abel’s faith offered the sacrifice that God required- Heb. 11:4
Enoch’s faith walked with God in harmony with God’s will- Heb. 11:5
Noah’s faith built the ark just as God instructed- Heb. 11:7
Abraham’s faith pitched its tent toward Canaan and offered Isaac as God commanded- Heb. 11:8, 17
Israel’s faith marched around the walls of Jericho just as God directed- Heb. 11:29, 30
When BY FAITH (Rom. 10:17) we comply to God’s conditions of the gospel our trust is in God, His grace and Christ’s blood; It is not in ourselves or our own acts of obedience. No, we’re simply trusting in the Lord with “..all our heart..; and leaning NOT on our own understand- (Proverbs 3:5) and doing what He commands John 14:15
Claim Jesus Christ as Your Passover Lamb by obeying His Gospel!
Have you done the things mentioned above? If not, why not?
"Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation"(2 Cor. 6:2)
Can you give book, chapter and verse for every thing that you have done in order to be saved?
Have you obeyed a “different” gospel? (Gal. 1:6, 7)
If you were "saved" by another method, why not seek to do exactly what God says and that alone?
God has given us the freedom to obey what a man has said or to obey what He has said.
What will your answer be?
